4/26/2018 0 Comments Let Your Feet Guide YouThose that know me know that my life transformation began with pain in my feet. Fallen arches, bunions, plantar fasciaitis...it took a major ankle surgery for me to finally wake up and start exploring alternatives. That's when I started working with Dr. Angela Renner and found out that a chiropractor can be a true healer. At that time I was also drawn to read "Born
to Run” by Christopher McDougall, a book I recommend to anyone with feet. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Born_to_Run:_A_Hidden_Tribe,_Superathletes,_and_the_Greatest_Race_the_World_Has_Never_Seen). Although I've never been a runner, this story appealed to my inner scientist with brilliant evolutionary insight, evidence and research. In the style of great investigative journalism, the story was engaging and thought provoking, awakening my own instinctive recognition of the truth that our feet are a highly evolved wonder of biomechanics. Humans have walked and run upon this Earth for eons. Our feet are meant to support us in connection with the Earth. The notion that we need arch support, ankle support, protection and correction in how we move in relation to the ground is a modern aberration. It is a product of our disconnection with the Earth, our ancestors and our bodies. Placed in a historical perspective, our relationship as a species to the Earth is timeless, our relationship to shoes is a very recent development!
